The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will premiere in a few days. Marvel Studios’ latest show will take on the newest adventures of Anthony Mackie’s and Sebastian Stan’s titular heroes following the retirement of Chris Evans’ Captain America. While promoting the upcoming series at a recent press conference, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier executive producer Kari Skogland revealed that she took inspiration from David Lean’s movies as well as 1969’s Midnight Cowboy, while EP Malcolm Spellman tapped into the Bad Boys franchise and movies like 48 Hours and Rush Hour.
At the same press conference, covered by Deadline and others, Marvel Studios’ kingpin Kevin Feige explained that they hadn’t planned a sophomore season for now.
“We get asked (that question) much more in television, because people expect it to be like what they know before: Where’s season 2?” he said. “We approached it like the movies: We better make this great, because we won’t be able to do another one.”
However, he also teased that “there’s certainly ideas,” underlining that the Marvel Cinematic Storylines develop across multiple media, including the movies.

During the press conference, actor Anthony Mackie seemed to speculate about the spin-off he’d like to see.
“Sam Wilson was a regular guy who just won the lottery because Black Widow knocked on his door and needed a place to hide,” he said while talking about his character’s hesitancy to take up Captain America’s shield. “He fell in love, and was hoping to have a spinoff with Black Widow.”
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will debut on Disney+ on March 19.
