Olivia Colman In Talks To Join Marvel’s Secret Invasion Series

Marvel Studios’ upcoming Secret Invasion adaptation may have lined up its first female lead. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel is reportedly in negotiations with Oscar-winning actress Olivia Colman. Details about Colman’s potential role are currently unrevealed.

Colman won a Best Actress Oscar for her turn in The Favourite. She is also up for Best Supporting Actress at this year’s Academy Awards for The Father. Her previous credits include The Crown and Doctor Who. Additionally, she will lend her voice to Sony’s upcoming animated film, The Mitchells vs the Machines.

Last December, Disney+ announced that Secret Invasion will feature Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and his Captain Marvel co-star, Ben Mendelsohn, as the Skrull warrior, Telos. According to Marvel’s Kevin Feige, the Skrulls will have infiltrated Earth in all walks of life. But it’s unclear if any heroes will be replaced by the Skrulls as they were in the comics.

Last month, One Night in Miami star Kingsley Ben-Adir was also added to the cast. Ben-Adir’s role is reportedly the main villain in the series.

THR states that Secret Invasion is likely to begin shooting this fall in the United Kingdom and Europe. Kyle Bradstreet (Mr. Robot) is writing and executive producing the series.

Disney+ hasn’t set a date for Secret Invasion, but a late 2022 or 2023 release seem likely.
