Skybound is Adapting David Schulner’s Clone For Italian TV

Writer David Schulner’s Clone comic book series is making its way to the small screen, though not in the way some fans might expect. According to Variety, Skybound Galactic and Sony Pictures Television are partnering with Italy’s Fabula to produce an Italian-language adaptation of the series for TV.

Schulner and artist Juan Jose Ryp launched Clone through Skybound and Image Comics in 2012. The series centers on Luke Taylor, who gets the shock of his life when he stumbles upon an identical (and bloody) clone of himself. The clone tells him that other clones like him are in a race to capture Luke’s pregnant wife and his unborn child. Unfortunately, he doesn’t tell him why.

Italy’s take on Clone comes from a collective of young Italian screenwriters known as Grams, who will be the showrunners of the series. Its members include Antonio Le Fosse, Eleonora Trucchi, Marco Raspanti, Giacomo Mazzariol and Romulo Emmanuel Salvador. Previously, the group worked with Fabula on Baby, an Netflix original.

Clone marks Skybound Entertainment’s first proper venture into international territory. Founders Robert Kirkman and David Alpert are onboard as executive producers, as are Bryan Furst, Sean Furst and Rick Jacobs. Fabula head Nicola De Angelis is executive producing as well. The series doesn’t have a home yet. However, the producers will be shopping it around to different networks over the next few weeks.
