Surprising nobody, early reactions to the Disney+ series Loki are trending as overwhelmingly positive, as all Marvel Cinematic Universe reactions tend to be. Select press obtained access to the first two episodes, which appear to have a runtime around 50-ish minutes each. And while most folks are enthusiastic, they have a wide range of points of comparison. Herewith, a sampling of Loki reactions:
It’s a crime procedural:
#Loki is the best @MarvelStudios series yet (or at least my favorite so far). A time-crime procedural that lets Tom Hiddleston chew scenery like bubble gum while digging into the tragedy of the character’s villainous facade and elevating his thirst for a new kind of power.

It’s the MCU’s Doctor Who:
#Loki: Eps. 1 & 2 NO SPOILERS Review:
This is Marvel’s best Big Finish boxset yet. (This really feels like the MCU’s Doctor Who.)
Hiddleston is clearly having a *lot* of fun and Loki remains the MCU’s most interesting character.
And oh man, that reveal in the first episode.

A cheeky action comedy!
WandaVision was meant to be a mystery box of sorts, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier made statements on race and legacy. I think #Loki is designed to be the most purely entertaining Marvel series thus far, at least based on the first two episodes. It’s a cheeky action comedy… pic.twitter.com/iHIyDhsgyY

Reminiscent of Terry Gilliam?
#Loki is super fun, hugely entertaining & wickedly inspired. Love its BRAZIL-esque, absurdist slant. A perfectly pitched, mischievously clever series. Tom Hiddleston is crackling. Owen Wilson is a great straight-man to the antics. Wunmi Mosaku continues to be a star standout. pic.twitter.com/TaRwjj4RkH

It’s laughter. confusion, surprises, tears:
#loki #LokiWednesdays #lokiseries #mcu
Expect laughter, confusion, surprises, tears and Marvel’s classic blockbuster budget. But most of all expect a good ass show.

A zany and fun adventure.
Marvel does it again. #Loki is a terrific showcase for Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson and company. Not much action, but the first two episodes set the tone for a zany and fun timeline hopping adventure. Surprises too! There may not be a better developed villain in TV/film history. pic.twitter.com/uxwXtvOtxI

The best series of the MCU:
WOW! #LOKI may just be the BEST series of the #MCU so far. With a charismatic performance from Tom Hiddleston, remarkably clever writing, and stunning visual craftsmanship brought together by sharp direction, it results in Marvel’s most ambitious project yet! A MUST WATCH! pic.twitter.com/tcQsEYbKXJ

Although there is one recurring complaint, and that concerns the pacing of the first episode.
LetsOTT Exclusive: #Loki – Episode 1.
A bumpy start to the series with a middling episode that introduces us to the world of Loki and the situation that he is in, now. A bit sluggish in its pacing, but Owen Wilson’s character produces hope. pic.twitter.com/DiW0uBmHrq

However, the second one makes up for it.
Got to see the first 2 episodes of #Loki and it’s really promising so far…
An okay but clunky premiere followed by a fantastic second episode, a intriguing crime thriller but also a series that excellently delves into Loki’s psyche.

Indeed, it seems apparent why Disney+ chose to screen two episodes rather than just one.
#Loki gets off to a rough start with ep. 1, which is poorly paced and written but necessary to introduce the world of the TVA. Ep. 2 is a step up from that, the plot is introduced and the stage is set for a hard-hitting rest of the season.
