It appears Misha Green is bursting with ideas. While HBO has yet to announce a sophomore season for Lovecraft Country officially, the showrunner is already working on it. The news came from Lovecraft Country star Jurnee Smollett, who teased that something big might be next for the show. The actress portrayed Letitia Lewis in the freshman season and she hopes to return for new mysterious adventures.
“And I have no idea what Misha’s planning,” she said while talking with Deadline. “All she’s told me is that it’s bold and unlike anything that’s ever been on TV, but we haven’t actually been picked up for season 2 yet. I know as much as you know, man, honestly.”

In the story, Leti is a photographer and civil rights activist. And, of course, the civil rights fight will play a pivotal role in a hypothetical sophomore season of the family drama.
“I have no doubt if, and when, there is a season 2, whatever Misha plans will for sure be disruptive,” Smollett added. “She has such a gift for using the art of storytelling to illuminate the humanity of Black folks in a way that feels disruptive and fresh at the same time, but also uniquely familiar. Lovecraft is a family drama at its heart. Each family could relate to these family members. It’s a very challenging task to make something so uniquely familiar in this way.”
