Amazon Debuts Trailer for The Wheel of Time, Sets Official Release Date

Fans of Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time, rejoice. Amazon has finally released the official trailer for the upcoming live-action adaptation of the epic saga. The video introduces us to a world ruled by violence and chaos, where a group of women possesses magical powers to hunt men who can use magic. In addition to a closer look at the young protagonists who will try to change their world, it features the Dark One, the mysterious, evil force always eyeing the Wheel of Time. Much has yet to be seen and revealed, but the recently released footage bodes well. Amazon believes so much in this series’ potential that a sophomore season is already in the works.

In addition to the trailer, the producers announced that the first three episodes would premiere on Friday, Nov. 19. New episodes will follow every Friday until the season finale on Dec. 24.

Per the official description, The Wheel of Time is “set in a sprawling, epic world where magic exists and only certain women are allowed to access it, the story follows Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), a member of the incredibly powerful all-female organization called the Aes Sedai, as she arrives in the small town of Two Rivers. There, she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women, one of whom is prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn, who will either save or destroy humanity.”
