Fans are counting the hours before the return of The Flash for its eighth run on The CW. The series will start its new season with a five-installment crossover that will feature several fellow heroes joining Barry Allen in his quest to defeat Despero. Among the people answering the fastest man alive’s call is Javicia Leslie’s Ryan Wilder, a.k.a. Batwoman. According to actor Grant Gustin, it won’t be the usual team-up people expect, but he didn’t reveal more details.
“Without spoiling too much, it’s not going to be what everybody would expect,” Gustin said while talking with EW. “By the time we’ve crossed paths on the show, it’s not going to be a typical Flash and Batwoman team-up I think is all I can really say. It was great having Javicia on set, great working with her. We’ve hooked up off set. She’s trained with my wife, actually, and we’ve hung out from time to time, and I really like her. So, it was cool to actually be on set with her. But, it’s not going to be the Flash-Batwoman team-up, per se, that people are probably expecting.”

Technically, Flash and Batwoman already joined forces in the Arrowverse once, when they fought side-by-side in the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover. However, Gotham’s Scarlet Knight at the time was Kate Kane, portrayed by Ruby Rose. Since that the actress left The CW show, teaming up with the Ryan Wilder Batwoman will be a new first for the defender of Central City.
The Flash season 8 premiere will debut on The CW on November 16.
