As hype continues to build for Matt Reeves’ The Batman, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is also getting ready to revisit another DC project with the same title. The studio (via Collider) has announced that The Batman: The Complete Series will be available on Blu-ray in 2022.
Set outside the mainline DC Animated Universe, The Batman debuted on Kids’ WB in 2004. The animated series followed a younger Bruce Wayne who was only three years into his career as Gotham City’s protector. Rino Romano, who previously voiced Peter Parker in Spider-Man Unlimited, provided the voice of Bruce on the show. The series also featured unique visual spins on Batman’s rogues gallery, including a dreadlock-sporting Joker and a goth-inspired Riddler. Later seasons eventually introduced key members of the Bat Family including Robin and Batgirl.
Additionally, the series made time for guest appearances by Batman: The Animated Series mainstays Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill. Conroy voiced Dick Grayson’s father, John, in one episode, while Hamill appeared in another episode as Tony Zucco. Former ‘60s Batman star Adam West also provided the voice of Gotham’s mayor. Over the course of its five seasons, The Batman won a total of six Daytime Emmy awards.
Aside from fully-remastered versions of the series’ 65 episodes, the new box set also boasts plenty of special features. Check out the full list below:
