The Mandalorian wasn’t Temeura Morrison’s first visit to a galaxy far, far away. Regardless, that doesn’t mean he’s an expert on all things Star Wars. So when it came time to start work on The Book of Boba Fett, he needed to brush up on his knowledge of the title character. Luckily, executive producer Dave Filoni was there to fill in some of the blanks. While speaking with SFX Magazine (via StarWarsLeaks), Morrison explained how Filoni schooled him on the bounty hunter’s backstory.
Filoni has been an integral part of the Star Wars family for over a decade. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he possesses an encyclopedic knowledge of the franchise. And this definitely came in handy whenever Morrison had questions about Boba Fett.
“That’s where we kind of opened up too much of the can at times, I think,” said Morrison. ”I did have my reservations, but hey, I trust the people I work with. I was so lucky I had people like Dave Filoni who has an ability to connect some of the dots — some of the ancient dots — and to keep that authenticity. I relied on him a lot, because I’m not one of these actors that reads every comic book and every bounty hunter book.”

Morrison also teased that the new spinoff will clue viewers into how Boba has spent the last five years since Return of the Jedi, including his mysterious escape from the Sarlacc Pit.
“There will definitely be a number of answers,” added Morrison. “Some long-winded answers, some short and sharp answers, some colourful answers. We’re filling a lot of gaps.”
The Book of Boba Fett will premiere on Disney+ on December 29.
