Batwoman Writers Are Developing a Gotham Knights Series For The CW

Three scribes from The CW’s Batwoman will explore new corners of Gotham City in their next DC project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network is developing a Gotham Knights TV show spearheaded by Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux, and Natalie Abrams.

The new series shares its title with Warner Bros. Montréal’s upcoming video game starring Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, and Red Hood. However, it’s still not clear which members of the Bat Family will appear on the show. But we can definitely rule out an appearance by the Dark Knight himself, as the series will pick up in the aftermath Bruce Wayne’s murder. So it probably isn’t a Batwoman spinoff.

Gotham Knights’ logline reveals that the show will center on Bruce’s “rebellious adopted son,” which could be anyone from Dick Grayson to Tim Drake. But whoever he is, he “forges an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader.” As Gotham’s safety reaches an all time low, this “renegade band of misfits” will stop at nothing to clear their names and become the city’s new heroes in the process.

Fiveash, Stoteraux, and Abrams have all worked on Batwoman since its inaugural season. They also have experience on other DC shows. Fiveash and Stoteraux previously worked as writers and producers on Fox’s Gotham and SYFY’s Krypton. Meanwhile, Abrams penned an episode of The CW’s Supergirl that aired in 2019.

In addition to writing the series, Fiveash and Stoteraux will also executive produce the show with Arrowverse mainstays Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and David Madden. Abrams will co-executive produce.
