AMC Hires Anna Fishko To Write an Orphan Black Sequel Series

The Orphan Black saga will continue on AMC. Variety brings word that the network has brought Anna Fishko onboard to write a follow-up to the original series.

Orphan Black previously aired five seasons from 2013-2017. The show centered on Sarah Manning (played by future She-Hulk star Tatiana Maslany), a con artist who discovers that she’s one of several clones living across North America and Europe. Maslany received critical acclaim for her performance and also won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2016. Last year, Maslany reprised her role in season 2 of Realm’s Orphan Black: The Next Chapter podcast.

Variety makes it clear that the new show is not a reboot of the original series, which aired on BBC America in the U.S. Instead, it will tell a whole new story that takes place in the same world. Plot details are currently unknown, but a sequel has been in the works since at least 2019. And now that Fishko is attached, a writers’ room is officially open.

Fishko last worked with AMC as a writer and supervising producer on Fear the Walking Dead during the show’s fourth season. She also served as a writer and co-executive producer on The Society, which aired one season on Netflix in 2019. Some of Fishko’s other credits include Amazon’s The Last Tycoon and FX’s Tyrant.

John Fawcett and Graeme Manson co-created the original Orphan Black. However, it’s not clear if either of them are involved with this new project. Boat Rocker Studios is currently lined up to produce the sequel.
