Five years after Sarah Manning’s story came to an end, AMC is returning to the world of Orphan Black for an all-new follow-up series. Variety reports that the network has officially greenlit a spinoff titled Orphan Black: Echoes. Orphan Black sequel series.
AMC previously hired Anna Fishko (Fear the Walking Dead) to write the series back in February. The show is set in the near future and “takes a deep dive into the exploration of the scientific manipulation of human existence.” Similar to its predecessor, Echoes will follow a group of women as they enter each other’s lives and begin a journey that leads them to piece together the mystery behind their identity and uncover a story of love and betrayal.
Soon-to-be She-Hulk star Tatiana Maslany headlined the original series as Sarah, a con-artist who learns she’s one of several clones living throughout North America and Europe as part of an illegal experiment. She also played all of Sarah’s clones. The show won a Peabody Award for its first season in 2013, and Maslany won an Emmy for best actress in a drama in 2016. John Fawcett, one of the series’ creators, is also working on Echoes as a director and executive producer. Fishko will act as the spinoff’s primary showrunner.

I’m incredibly lucky to have such supportive partners in Boat Rocker, John Fawcett and AMC, and can’t wait to introduce audiences old and new to the next installment of this beloved story.”
