Antony Starr has spent the last three years appearing on Amazon’s The Boys as Homelander, a psychopathic supe who leads the world’s premiere team of heroes. But in a shocking case of life imitating art, Starr has found himself in hot water with the law. The Daily Mail reports that Starr is facing a suspended prison sentence after a pub brawl overseas.
Starr was arrested on Wednesday morning in Spain, where he was filming an untitled action movie for director Guy Ritchie. According to the report, Starr was drinking at a pub in Alicante when he got into an altercation with Bathuel Araujo, a 21-year-old chef. Araujo later claimed that Starr lashed out after a friend he was with asked a friend of Starr’s to calm the Boys actor down because he was acting obnoxious. Once they were both outside, Starr allegedly said, “You don’t know who you’ve messed with. You don’t know who I am and what you’ve done. […] You’ve committed the mistake of your life and I’m going to look for you. I want to kill you.”
Araujo claimed that he was punched twice before having a glass smashed in his face. He was eventually taken to a hospital and received four stitches above his eye.

After spending two nights in police custody, Starr was taken to trial on Thursday. There, he was convicted of a “crime of wounding” and fined £4,141 (about $5,473.80 in U.S. currency). Additionally, he was handed a 12-month suspended prison sentence, which basically means he can avoid jail time if he meets certain requirements.
“The detainee’s state of drunkenness was taken into account as an extenuating factor,” said a court official. “The sentence was the result of an agreement between the state prosecution service and the man who was subsequently convicted.”
“His prison sentence is being suspended on the condition that he doesn’t commit another crime in two years and pays the compensation in the next 72 hours.”
Amazon hasn’t released a statement regarding Starr’s arrest. In the meantime, season 3 of The Boys is still scheduled to premiere on June 3.
