Chance Perdomo Replaces Shane Paul McGhie in The Boys Spinoff

Earlier this week, Amazon’s long-gestating The Boys spinoff lost two of its leads with Aimee Carrero and Shane Paul McGhie exiting the show. Regardless, the series’ producers aren’t wasting any time recasting their characters. Deadline brings word that Chance Perdomo has been cast to fill the role previously reserved for McGhie.

Perdomo is best known for starring on Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina as the title character’s cousin, Ambrose Spellman. He recently had a supporting role in After We Fell and will soon return for its upcoming sequel, After Ever Happy, which is set to arrive sometime this year.

Details continue to be few and far between, but Perdomo will appear on the spinoff as an up-and-coming superhero attending a college financed by Vought International alongside other young supes played by Jaz Sinclair (another Chilling Adventures alum), Lizzie Broadway, Reina Hardesty and Maddie Phillips. Amazon announced the new spinoff in late 2020 and began casting almost a year ago. But although the project has already been given a series order, we still don’t know it’s official title.

Perdomo’s role is said to have been overhauled since McGhie was cast last year. Apparently, Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters decided to take the character in a new direction once they assumed showrunning duties from original head writer Craig Rosenberg. As of now, there’s no word on who might replace Carrero on the series.

Amazon hasn’t announced when The Boys spinoff will finally head into production. However, the flagship series will debut its third season on June 3.
