Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 3 Gets a More Serious Teaser

Star Trek: Lower Decks generally plays out as the comedy version of Star Trek. The animated series still takes the universe and lore absolutely seriously and as canon, but showcases it from the point of view of one of the worst ships in Starfleet, rather than the usual flagship. But things took a serious turn with the destruction of Pakled Planet in last season’s finale. And the new teaser for Lower Decks season 3 begins awfully seriously.

Take a look. But mostly, a listen:

A small group hijacking a starship is not unprecedented. In Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, it took only Kirk, McCoy, Uhura, Sulu, Scotty, and Chekov to control the entire Enterprise with no additional crew. So long as nothing complicated is involved, a similar skeleton crew could fly the Cerritos. But they’d have to be competent. And while Mariner has more talents than she generally displays, the same cannot necessarily be said of her Lower Decks teammates.

The release date is still a vague later this year, sometime in 2022. And more “familiar” cameos have been teased.
