Director Bryce Dallas Howard Returns For The Mandalorian Season 3

As an actress, Bryce Dallas Howard has yet to take a major role in the Star Wars universe. Perhaps that’s because she’s too busy establishing herself as a director. Via The Hollywood Reporter, Howard helmed an episode of The Mandalorian season 3. Howard’s return to the director’s chair was already reported on fan sites earlier this year, but this is the first confirmation from one of the Hollywood trades. Bryce Dallas Howard returns

Howard only has a few directorial credits to her name, but they include two of the best episodes of The Mandalorian. She helmed “Chapter 4: Sanctuary” in season 1, and “Chapter 11: The Heiress” in season 2. Howard also directed “Return of the Mandalorian,” the fifth episode of The Book of Boba Fett. That episode was also hailed as one of the best of the season.

Additionally, THR notes that Dave Filoni will be directing “a handful” of episodes of the upcoming spinoff, Ahsoka. That series will feature Rosario Dawson in the leading role of Ahsoka Tano, a former member of the Jedi Order. Filoni was one of the creators who guided Ahsoka’s story in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. He also helmed the episode of The Mandalorian that formally reintroduced the character in live-action.

Ahsoka began filming last month, and it will premiere in 2023. However, The Mandalorian season 3 is already in post-production, ahead of its February 2023 return.
