Lucasfilm Confirms Star Wars: Visions Volume 2 For Spring 2023

Giving several powerhouse animators free rein over the Star Wars universe was one of the most inspired choices that Lucasfilm has ever made. And it sounds like even more stories like these are on the horizon. During the last day of Star Wars Celebration, the studio confirmed that a second season of Star Wars: Visions is currently in the works for Disney+. The next volume of episodes will hit the platform in the spring of next year.

Star Wars: Visions premiered its nine-episode first season on Disney+ last September. Ranging from 13 to 22 minutes, each installment took place at a different time in Star Wars history and featured a mix of new and established characters. Production duties fell to Japanese studios like Studio Trigger, Production I.G, and Science SARU, all of whom put their own stamp on a galaxy far, far away using a variety of animation techniques.

Lucasfilm also recruited a number of big names to fill Visions’ English voice cast. The call sheet included a number of Star Wars newbies like Neil Patrick Harris, Lucy Liu, David Harbour, Simu Liu, Karen Fukuhara, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Henry Golding, James Hong, and Alison Brie. Additionally, Temuera Morrison reprised his role as Boba Fett in episode 2.

Although Visions’ first season concentrated on Japanese animation styles, Lucasfilm is pulling from other countries for season 2. Volume 2 will showcase the work of studios based in Chile, the U.K., France, South Africa, South Korea, India, Ireland, and Spain. Lucasfilm’s own animation division in California will get in on the action as well.

This isn’t the only animated Star Wars adventure coming our way in the not-so-distant future. Lucasfilm also revealed a new trailer for Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2 over the weekend. Plus, the studio finally shared the first details for its upcoming Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi animated series, which arrives this fall.
