Now that Kamala Khan officially has powers, she’s ready to begin her superhero training. The series premiere of Ms. Marvel revealed that a mysterious bangle (not Terrigen Mist) is the source of Kamala’s cosmic abilities. And it looks like the second episode will focus on her efforts to discover the bracelet’s origins. With only a few hours remaining until the next chapter of the series hits Disney+, Marvel has released two new clips that show Kamala putting her abilities to the test.
The first clip finds Kamala making a clandestine FaceTime call to her grandmother, Nani, who sent the bangle in a gift box to the Khan family in the previous episode. Nani claims the bangle belonged to her own mother, Aisha, who disappeared during the 1947 partition that split India and Pakistan into two separate territories. But before she can share anything else, she cuts the conversation short, afraid of what Kamala’s mother might have to say…

If the series’ first episode taught us anything, it’s that we could all use a friend like Bruno in our lives. Sure, he’s a tech genius who builds smart home devices that understand Urdu. But his loyalty to Kamala is way more important, especially when she begins testing out her newfound powers. The second clip shows the two BFFs on a Jersey City rooftop, trying to get a handle on the bracelet’s cosmic energy; which the normally imaginative Kamala nicknames “hard light.” They also discover a foreign inscription on the bracelet. Unfortunately, the translation might have to wait until a later episode.
The second episode of Ms. Marvel will air on Disney+ tonight at midnight.
