Manny Montana Joins Marvel’s Ironheart Series on Disney+

The cast of Marvel’s highly-anticipated Ironheart series has added a new name to its call sheet. Deadline reports that Manny Montana has booked a role on the show, which stars Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams. Marvel hasn’t commented on the nature of Montana’s role, but he will reportedly appear as a series regular.

Montana previously starred in all four seasons of NBC’s Good Girls until its cancellation last summer. Earlier this year, he began a recurring stint on FX’s Mayans M.C. and he will soon appear in the new season of Westworld, which debuts later this month. On the big screen, Montana has also appeared in Blackhat and The Mule.

Thorne’s casting was announced in late 2020 during Disney’s Investor Day presentation. The following spring, Marvel hired Chinaka Hodge to be the series’ head writer. And back in February, the producers began its search for supporting cast members. So far, the show’s roster includes Anthony Ramos, Lyric Ross, and Harper Anthony. But before the series premieres, Thorne will make her first MCU appearance this fall in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Comic book writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Mike Deodato introduced Riri Williams in 2016. As a teen science prodigy, Riri was heavily inspired by Tony Stark and she even reverse-engineered her own flying armored suit while attending MIT. Ryan Coogler, director of Marvel’s Black Panther films, is also working on Ironheart as an executive producer. Directors Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes will each helm three installments of the six-episode first season.

Marvel still hasn’t announced a release date for Ironheart.
