In a flashback to the Partition of India in 1947, Kamran’s mother, Najma, and Kamala Khan’s great-grandmother, Aisha, discover the bangle at a historical site. But with the British army closing in, Najma and Aisha go their separate ways. In the present, Najma explains to Kamala that she and her family are Clandestines, a race of people from the Noor dimension who are known as Djinn in our reality. Since Aisha was also a Djinn, that makes Kamala one as well. Most of Najma’s family are decades, if not hundreds of years old. Only Kamran is truly 17-years old.
Najma asks Kamala to help them to return to their home dimension. Shortly thereafter, Kamala relates the request to Bruno, who agrees to help her figure out how to do it. He also reveals that he’s been given early admission to college, but Bruno doesn’t want to leave without making sure Kamala is safe. After researching the issue, Bruno warns Kamala that opening a portal to the Noor dimension could be very dangerous. Kamala relays the warning to Kamran, who tells her to focus on her brother’s wedding.
On the day of Aamir and Tyesha’s wedding, the ceremony goes off without a hitch. However, Najma discovers Kamala’s message to Kamran, and she is angered by any delay to her homecoming.

Over Kamran’s objections, Najma and her family head to the wedding to force Kamala to cooperate. Kamran manages to arrive first, interrupting a dance between Bruno and Kamala. Kamran convinces them that his family will attack Kamala’s loved ones, so she pulls the fire alarm and disrupts the reception.
The Clandestine overwhelm and overpower Kamala, and her offensive abilities are greatly limited by comparison. She doesn’t even manifest a giant fist until Bruno is hurt trying to help her. Kamran also fights by Kamala’s side against his own family. Regardless of Kamala’s newfound abilities, Najma still gets the upper hand and forces her to activate the bangle. Together, they witness a vision of a train. Almost immediately thereafter, Damage Control agents force their way in and capture the Clandestine. Kamala and Bruno escape, but Kamran does not.
Outside, Kamala accidentally outs her powers to her friend, Nakia. Because someone witnessed Kamala pulling the fire alarm, her family is suspicious when she returns and refuses to share any details about what happened. In her room, Kamala is surprised when her grandmother, Sana, calls and tells her that she has to come to Karachi with her mother. More intriguingly, Sana also saw the vision of the train.
