Michael Giacchino has some “crazy and nuts” ideas to bring back Werewolf By Night’s characters for a follow-up project, which could happen as soon as he gets the go-ahead from Marvel.
Speaking with Collider, Giacchino acknowledged there’s been “talk” of doing a follow-up to 2022’s Werewolf by Night, though no immediate plans are currently in the works. Should Marvel decide to move forward with another project involving the characters from the television special, however, Giacchino already has some ideas.
“There’s always talk,” he said. “But, you know, until somebody decides to spend a penny, nothing happens yet. So, hopefully. My wish is that, yes, there will be more with these characters. I would love to, and I have ideas of what I would love to do with them, and it’s all crazy and nuts, but I think that’s the only way to go about it. So, hopefully, one day. Hopefully, one day.”
Released on Disney+ in October 2022, Werewolf by Night is a black-and-white television special starring Gael García Bernal as Jack Russell/Werewolf by Night, Laura Donnelly as Elsa Bloodstone, Harriet Sansom Harris as Verussa Bloodstone, and Carey Jones as Man-Thing.
Werewolf by Night is getting a colorized release
On October 20, 2023, Marvel Studios is dropping a colorized version of Werewolf by Night on Disney+.
“Now presented in vibrant color, Marvel Studios’ Werewolf by Night in Color takes place on a dark and somber night as a secret cabal of monster hunters emerge from the shadows and gather at the foreboding Bloodstone Temple following the death of their leader,” the synopsis reads. “In a strange and macabre memorial to the leader’s life, the attendees are thrust into a mysterious and deadly competition for a powerful relic — a hunt that will ultimately bring them face to face with a dangerous monster. Inspired by horror films of the 1930s and 1940s, the chilling special aims to evoke a sense of dread and the macabre, with plenty of suspense and scares along the way as we explore a new corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
The black-and-white version of Werewolf by Night is currently streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
