Invincible showrunner Simon Racioppa recently addressed the fan theories speculating that Spider-Man will make an appearance in the show’s upcoming second season.
“I’d love to have crossovers with all, with DC, with Marvel, with all these other characters. I mean … in our show you gotta have to wait and see if that’s a thing that can happen or not,” Racioppa told The Hollywood Handle. “I’d love that to happen, you know, is very tricky nowadays, for Marvel they sometimes license their characters to other studios. So crossing over in television is way harder than it is in comic books.”
Invincible and Spider-Man previously met in the comics
While it might seem weird for fans to strongly believe that Spider-Man — a character from Marvel Comics — might appear in an animated series adaptation of Invincible — an Image Comics — character, there is precedent. The two young superheroes previously crossed paths in Marvel Comics’ Marvel Team-Up #14 in 2006, which connected to Image Comics’ Invincible #33.
Fans have been theorizing that Marvel’s Wall-Crawler could be making an appearance this season ever since they noticed the cover of Marvel Team-Up #14 on Invincible’s phone screen in the Season 2 teaser, which was released back in January 2023.

Additionally, Josh Keaton — who voiced Peter Parker in the 2008-2009 animated series The Spectacular Spider-Man (and a number of other projects) — is listed as one of Invincible Season 2’s many guest stars. Furthermore, Sony has a deal with Prime Video (Invincible’s home streaming service) for a number of upcoming Spider-Man spin-off shows.
Finally, Season 2 is delving into the multiverse with the introduction of supervillain Angstrom Levy, a character who can open portals to alternate dimensions. However, as Racioppa said, the only thing stopping the Marvel universe from being part of the Invincible Multiverse is potential licensing issues. At this time, no crossover has been officially announced, meaning that fans shouldn’t get their hopes too high about seeing the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man in Invincible Season 2.
The first season of Invincible, including the Atom Eve special, is currently streaming on Prime Video. The first four episodes of Season 2 will debut on November 3, 2023, followed by the remaining four episodes in early 2024.
