Actor Yvonne Chapman has become the latest addition to the cast of Superman & Lois Season 4.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Chapman will appear in a recurring capacity next season as Amanda McCoy, the “intelligent, cunning, and loyal” ally of Lex Luthor who has been acting as the leader of Luthor Corp during his absence.
“Little is known about her mysterious past, but she’s the only one in Luthor’s inner circle that he views as an equal, which makes her a massive threat to the Kents . . . and anyone else who stands in her way,” reads the official character description.
A relatively minor character from the comics, Amanda made her debut in 1987’s Superman #2 as a LexCorp scientist who became one of the few people to figure out Superman’s secret identity. At this time, it is unknown if this detail will be adapted for Superman & Lois’ final season, although it is worth noting that in the comics, Lex refused to believe that the Man of Steel would willingly choose to live most of his life as a human.
Yvonne Chapman recently appeared in Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender
Chapman is perhaps best known for playing Zhilan Zhang in The CW series Kung Fu. She also recently appeared in two episodes of Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, portraying legendary warrior Avatar Kyoshi. Her other television credits include Family Law, The 100, Street Legal, and The Crossing.
Superman & Lois was renewed for a fourth season in June 2023, with The CW announcing that November that it would be the show’s last. The fan-favorite DC superhero drama series, which is loosely connected to the Arrowverse, follows Clark Kent/Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch) as they return to Smallville with their twin sons, Jonathan (Michael Bishop), and Jordan Kent (Alex Garfin).
Although a release date has not yet been set, Superman & Lois Season 4 is expected to premiere on The CW in 2024.
