Reeves serves as an executive producer on The Penguin alongside Farrell, Dylan Clark, Lauren LeFranc, Craig Zobel, and Bill Carraro. LeFranc additionally wrote the series and serves as showrunner, while Zobel directed the first three episodes.

The series is described as “the next chapter in the Batman saga” and will see Oswald try to gain control of Gotham City’s underworld following the events of The Batman.

Farrell’s Penguin debuted in 2022’s The Batman, which was directed by Reeves. The movie, which is set in a different continuity than James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU, also starred Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton/Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.

A sequel to The Batman, The Batman — Part II, is also in the works from Warner Bros. and Reeves. While it was initially scheduled to hit theaters in 2025, Warner Bros. recently pushed the movie back to October 2, 2026.

The Penguin premieres on Max in the fall of 2024. The Batman, meanwhile, is currently streaming on Max and Netflix.
