What did Jac Schaeffer say about Agatha All Along?
Schaeffer said that Agatha Harkness will be joined by a “a disparate, mixed bag of witches” in the upcoming Marvel Studios series. “What they have in common is that they’re covenless witches,” Schaeffer continued. “Witches are defined by deception, treachery, villainy and selfishness. What do you do when you have a group of witches who [demonstrate] those notions and you need them to work together?”
Explaining how Agatha All Along will differ from WandaVision, Schaeffer said, “[Where] WandaVision played with the form of classic TV sitcoms, [here] we do a lot of playing with what the assumptions about witches are. Like, what are the shorthand visuals for witches?”
Schaeffer added of Kathryn Hahn’s character, “We certainly didn’t want a one-dimensional nasty witch. We will have moments where we see Agatha’s true heart.”
In addition to the aforementioned cast, the series also stars Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, and Emma Caulfield Ford. Schaeffer serves as an executive producer alongside Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, and Brad Winderbaum.
The first two episodes of Marvel‘s Agatha All Along will premiere on Disney+ on September 18, 2024. The following seven episodes will be released weekly, with the finale then airing on November 6, 2024.
WandaVision, meanwhile, is currently streaming on Disney+.
