Agatha All Along Features More Horror Than One Star Expected

Sasheer Zamata, one of the stars of Marvel Studios’ Agatha All Along, recently shared that the Disney+ series had more horror in it than she was seemingly expecting for a Marvel Cinematic Universe project.

Agatha All Along gives Kathryn Hahn’s fan-favorite villain her own show

Picking up after the events of Marvel’s acclaimed 2021 limited series, WandaVision, Agatha All Along finds Kathryn Hahn‘s villainous Agatha Harkness embarking on a perilous quest to reclaim her powers. She will also be building up a new coven of witches, with Zamata’s Jennifer Kale, Ali Ahn’s Alice Wu-Gulliver, Debra Jo Rupp’s Sharon Davis, and Aubrey Plaza’s Rio Vidal among its members.

The first trailer for the upcoming Disney+ series was released earlier this week and featured a surprising amount of horror-tinged moments, leading many fans to theorize that this will be far scarier than any prior MCU project. Zamata has now confirmed as much during a recent interview with ComicBook.com to promote her new Apple TV+ series, Exploding Kittens.

“I, and I think the fans, will be surprised at how much horror is in the show,” Zamata revealed. “It really is quite scary and dramatic and violent and all the things. And also funny! But I think the range of what the show is going to do will be a shock for people.”

Agatha All Along was first announced by Marvel Studios in 2021. Hahn’s titular witch was last seen being trapped in her “Agnes” persona by Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch in the series finale of WandaVision. However, as the show’s trailer suggests, with the Scarlet Witch dying in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the spell trapping Agatha will seemingly be broken, allowing for the witch to break free.

Also starring in the WandaVision spinoff series are Joe Locke, Maria Zizzia, Paul Adelstein, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasili, Patti LuPone, and Emma Caulfield Ford, among others.

Agatha All Along will premiere on Disney+ on September 18, 2024, with its first two episodes.
