Capcom May Reveal New Resident Evil Game Next Month

2019 has been a very good year for Resident Evil fans. Capcom’s remake of Resident Evil 2 finally arrived in January,  and there’s a Netflix series on the way. But where will Resident Evil go from there? Capcom has opened up a new website for an upcoming title called Project Resistance. As seen above, all of the letters in white, except for “RE.” This appears to hint that a new entry in the long-running survival horror franchise is on the way.

“Capcom is embarking on a new project,” as explained on the site. A teaser trailer will also debut on September 9.

Previously, Capcom noted that it plans to expand upon Resident Evil in a number of ways. Capcom has already begun looking into a remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. And there are rumors that Resident Evil 8 is also in the works. But we suspect that Project Resistance could be a multiplayer-oriented title.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City was a multiplayer spinoff that came out for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2012. Capcom also tried to go competitive with the 2016 release Umbrella Corps, but it wasn’t very well-received.

Project Resistance will be announced right before the Tokyo Game Show, which kicks off on September 11. It’s likely to be Capcom’s big title on the show floor, alongside its new Monster Hunter expansion, Iceborne.
