Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge Adds April O’Neil As a Playable Character

TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge Adds April O’Neil As a Playable Character

Earlier this year, Dotemu and Nickelodeon announced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. Like the Konami Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade games that inspired it, Shredder’s Revenge allows players to assume the roles of Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo. However, Dotemu is adding a fifth playable character: April O’Neil.

’87 April wasn’t exactly a fighter in the first TMNT animated series. She was more of a supporting character, and also an occasional hostage. Regardless, there is some precedent for this incarnation of April to fight on her own. The Archie Comics tie-in TMNT comic book veered from the show by allowing April to train as a warrior.

Unlike the Turtles, April doesn’t use a conventional weapon in the game. However, she does have the ability to use her camera as a blunt instrument while fighting the Foot Clan. She can also team up with the Turtles to perform certain moves.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge will hit Nintendo Switch and PC in 2022. Presumably, it will also be available on other consoles as well.
