Quantic Dream and Lucasfilm Games Announce Star Wars Eclipse

There’s a new Star Wars game on the horizon, and it isn’t one that we’ve seen before. During The Game Awards, Quantic Dream and Lucasfilm games announced Star Wars Eclipse, a new narrative-driven game. While the title was leaked earlier this year, this is the first time that it has been formally confirmed. Additionally, it came with a “cinematic reveal trailer.”

The game is still very early in development, so there aren’t any gameplay sequences in this video. However, there are a few familiar looking aliens and droids that almost seem reminiscent of the prequel trilogy. The game is set during the High Republic era, long before the events of the first film in the franchise. And yet some problems seem to recur in all eras. Luckily, the Jedi are willing to fight to keep to the peace.

Quantic Dream is best known for its PlayStation exclusive games Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human. Presumably the gameplay for the new title will resemble those games. And unlike Quantic Dream’s previous titles, Eclipse is not exclusive to any console.

Here’s the description from Quantic Dream’s official site:

“See the galaxy through the eyes of an ensemble cast of multiple, charismatic playable characters, each with their own morality, personality, motivations, and impact upon each other and the story at large. With all-new characters and environments, you have the power to make choices with consequences thanks to many outcomes in this deeply branching narrative. In an uncharted section of the galaxy with never-before-seen species and planets to discover, this part of the Outer Rim is rife with opportunity — and political tensions that could alter the fabric of peace. What will you do?”
