Ghostbusters VR Game Announced For the Meta Quest 2

Yet another big-name film franchise has caught the virtual reality bug. Earlier today, Sony announced that a Ghostbuster VR game is currently in the works for Meta Quest 2 headsets.

The game comes from nDreams, the same studio behind other VR releases like Phantom: Covert Ops and Far Cry VR: Dive Into Insanity. To give fans an idea of what’s in store, Sony also released a new cinematic trailer featuring several iconic Ghostbusters gadgets. But instead of joining the legacy team of Peter Venkman and his associates, players will join a new team of Ghostbusters as they investigate paranormal occurrences throughout San Francisco, using P.K.E. Meters and proton packs to track down a wide range of ghoulish threats.

Of course, this isn’t the only new Ghostbusters video game coming out way. Illfonic is also developing a multiplayer adventure, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, for current-gen consoles. But according to nDreams Chief Development Officer Tomas Gillo, Ghostbusters VR offers something completely different.

“With SPVR, we’ve found the perfect teammates to help bring a boundary-pushing multiplayer game to virtual reality,” said Gillo. “In addition, our close collaboration with the creators of the Ghostbusters franchise at Ghost Corps, combined with our extensive experience creating rich, tactile and immersive VR will blow gamers and Ghostbusters fans away.”

Ghostbusters VR doesn’t have a release date. You can learn more about the game here.
