Suicide Squad Sequel Planned for 2017 Production?

Will a Suicide Squad sequel shoot in 2017?

Word broke yesterday that Warner Bros. is in negotiations to distribute the film Bright from director David Ayer and starring Will Smith, an End of Watch-style cop drama set in a world where Orcs and Fairies live with humans. Buried in their story on the announcement, Variety revealed an interesting tidbit: Warner Bros. is eager to shoot the film this year so that they can retain Ayer and Smith for a Suicide Squad sequel to shoot in 2017.

Variety‘s Justin Kroll took to Twitter to clarify what he’s heard about the potential sequel.

Currently the only DC films set for released in 2018, the potential release window for a movie shooting in 2017, are The Flash on March 23, 2018 and Aquaman on July 27, 2018. There is still time for a Suicide Squad sequel to take either of those release dates of come out later in the year, but check back here for more details as we learn them.

There’s also mystery roles for Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood, Raymond Olubowale, Alex Meraz, Jim Parrack, and Common.

Suicide Squad is scheduled for release on August 5, 2016.
