Marvel Comics has revealed Mike McKone’s official cover art for Timeless Light #1 — a new digital comic sponsored by watch manufacturer Citizen.
McKone’s Timeless Light #1 cover finds Loki surrounded by the Avengers — including his adoptive brother, Thor. The newly-launched digital comic itself hails from the creative team of Paul Allor, Carlos Reno, and Larry. In it, Loki ponders what exactly makes a hero. The God of Mischief then decides to confront Earth’s Mightiest Heroes by taking command of an invading force of “Shadow Monsters.”

Mike McKone discusses his Marvel influences
While discussing his cover art for Timeless Light #1 with Marvel, McKone discussed some of his biggest influences at the House of Ideas. “I like anything created or designed by Jack Kirby. So drawing Loki is always fun,” the artist said. “[Loki’s] pomposity and self-aggrandizing nature should [always] be present. As well as his natural mischievousness.”
McKone also opened up about his favorite stories starring Thor and Loki. “The Walt Simonson THOR run from the 80s is rightfully regarded as a high point,” he said. “And I also have a lot of affection for the issues illustrated by John Buscema from a decade earlier.” McKone concluded by stating that the classic iteration of Loki is is favorite one to draw.
