NECA is not a toy company unfamiliar with the worlds of The Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline or the Universal Monsters. But for the Halloween Collection, now available exclusively at their online store, they’ve come up with new twists and incarnations of the creepy characters from those creative fictions.
This IS Halloween
A nine-inch Jack Skellington figure in a cloth outfit should get a lot of attention — technically, he’s in a similar scale to their retro-clothed 8-inch figures, though the physique is all new. Jack comes with a pumpkin and a stand, and runs $34.99. Jack’s theme-park holiday hangout, Disney’s Haunted Mansion ride, has its three hitchhiking ghosts immortalized in translucent blue as a triple head-knocker in a limited run of 300. Scarcity knocks that price up to $90.
NECA’s Bela Lugosi Dracula figure evokes ’80s vibes with the Remco tribute repaint. Complete with vinyl cape, this version of the Count glows in the dark like the old 3-3/4″ figure used to. Though for $30, he’s around ten times the original price (but also twice as tall).
A variant Coraline figure in star sweater comes with an action stand as well as an autographed Dave McKean lithograph — each figure randomly includes one of five. The figure features full articulation, including movable eyes. It costs $75.
The piece de resistance, however, is pricey and terrifying. It’s a five-foot tall, “life-size” Coraline plush, depicted with button eyes as if from the other side. It includes a metal doll stand and will run you $380. If you really love someone who enjoys being creeped out, this might be the answer to your gift-giving prayers. Unfortunately, you can’t count on them arriving by this holiday season: ETAs range from January to April. You’ll certainly have them ready for your seasonal scenes by next year, though.
The creepy collection is all available, as of this writing, exclusively at The NECA Store. Happy haunting!
