Abrams Books has announced Marvel Studios: The Art of Ryan Meinerding — a new art book highlighting the work of Marvel Studios‘ Head of Visual Development.
Written by Tara Bennett and Paul Terry, Marvel Studios: The Art of Ryan Meinerding arrives in bookstores early this coming October. The hardcover art book “covers the breadth of [Meinerding’s] work on the Marvel Cinematic Universe,” collecting nearly 500 of the artist’s illustrations. It also features a foreword by Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige.

What to expect from Marvel Studios: The Art of Ryan Meinerding
Per Marvel Entertainment, Marvel Studios: The Art of Ryan Meinerding includes “[c]haracter designs for Iron Man,” “[k]eyframe and concept designs for Thor,” and “[c]oncept designs for Captain America‘s many suits.” The book also features “[c]haracter designs for Marvel’s The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, created in collaboration with Charlie Wen” — as well as “[s]uit and gear designs for Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” What’s more, that’s apparently just the tip of the iceberg.
An official synopsis for the “lavish” art book reads as follows: “Ryan Meinerding has been a key creative force in designing the look of the beloved Super Heroes and villains of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the early stages of Iron Man (2008). Marvel Studios: The Art of Ryan Meinerding showcases the artist’s singular and iconic vision, from his work-in-progress sketches to his finished illustrations.”
Marvel further explains that the book “provides unprecedented insight into Meinerding’s creative process, as well as his view on the essential collaborations behind contemporary concept and character design.” Writers Bennett and Terry interview Meinerding regarding “the origins of his career, his inspirations, insights into his process, and stories from the making of Marvel Studios’ first four phases.”
Marvel Studios: The Art of Ryan Meinerding goes on sale Tuesday, October 1 from Abrams Books.
