Medieval Spawn Figure Kickstarter Launches Next Week

We had the first images a year ago and now, finally, we have a date for McFarlane Toys‘ second Kickstarter Spawn figure. It’s August 20, and as with the previous Spawn figure, there will be three variants: classic blue, classic variant black, and gray artist’s proof. Though Spawn figures have become available at retail since that first Kickstarter figure, which proved there was consumer demand, this Medieval Spawn has a much more intricate sculpt and paint ops than anything you’ll find on the shelves at Target. (We’ve seen it up close and can confirm.)

Good Knight, Evil Prince

Blue Medieval Spawn comes with an alternate Roman centurion head, and a Valkyrie head with opening visor. Black Medieval Spawn includes the Roman head and a closed-mouth, unhelmeted “hamburger” head. The artist’s proof version includes gray, unpainted Valkyrie and hamburger heads.

Stretch goals include 14 additional accessories, which include three interchangeable breastplates, alternate screaming hamburger head, and a soft “classic” helmet that fits over the regular hamburger head. Additional weapons include a larger shield, Spawn-logo chain, mace, morningstar, two axes, two alternate swords, and two classic-style forearm pads. That’s a lot of customizing options to tempt you into buying more than one figure. As before, three-packs with an autographed plaque will available, as well as individual autographed figures.

Plant your browsers on the Kickstarter page to be ready as soon as they launch. Then prepare for your collection to literally get medieval as hell.

The first Spawn set a record as the most successful action figure Kickstarter ever. Todd McFarlane is hoping that this one will set a new record of speed to completion. As such, the figures are already in production, and he’s claiming some backers will have them in hand by Christmas. It’s a bold claim in the toy world, where so many factors are out of the creator’s control, but here’s hoping.
