Spawn Reboot Movie With Jamie Foxx Gets New Title

The upcoming Spawn reboot movie with Jamie Foxx has been given an official title.

A new Spawn movie has been in development for many years. Todd McFarlane, who created the character for Image Comics in 1992, stuck a deal with Blumhouse to produce the upcoming reboot.

Jason Blum has now posted a photo on X of the title page of the screenplay for the new Spawn movie, which will be titled King Spawn. View Blum’s X post below:

What do we know about the new Spawn reboot movie, King Spawn?

King Spawn is written by Matt Mixon, Malcolm Spellman, and Scott Silver, based on characters created by McFarlane.

Plot details for King Spawn remain under wraps at this time.

The first Spawn movie was released in United States theaters in 1997. Directed by Mark A.Z. Dippé, it starred Michael Jai White as the titular character, while John Leguizamo, Martin Sheen, Theresa Randle, and D.B. Sweeney also appeared in the film.

While there was initially talk of making a sequel to 1997’s Spawn, McFarlane announced that he had begun developing a reboot in 2007. The project went through numerous iterations before it landed at Blumhouse, while Foxx officially signed on to play the character in 2018.

Jeremy Renner was also attached to co-star in the new Spawn movie as Twitch Williams; however, it remains unclear if the Hawkeye actor will still appear in the film.

“Yes, I’m going to bring the Blumhouse edge [to the Spawn movie],” Blum previously said of the Spawn movie. “It’s going to be edgy and original as compared to other superhero movies. It’s gonna definitely feel like the Blumhouse version of a superhero movie.”

An exact release date for King Spawn has not yet been officially announced at this time, though Blum did say in October 2023 that the movie would hit theaters sometime in 2025.
