Jeff Nichols Will Write and Direct Third A Quiet Place Film

No one expected A Quiet Place to become a franchise when it hit theaters in 2018. However, John Krasinski’s low key, high concept horror film has already sparked a sequel. Now, Deadline is reporting that third film in the A Quiet Place franchise is in the works.

Loving director Jeff Nichols has signed on to write and helm the new Quiet Place film. Krasinski came up with the idea for the sequel, which may expand the universe of the original story. Deadline speculates that it may reveal how and why the alien monsters arrived. It could also explore what’s happening around the world.

A Quiet Place: Part II was delayed earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe will reprise their roles from the first movie, as the Abbott family flees their refugee. The synopsis for the film hints that “the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.”

Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou will also star in the sequel, with Krasinski returning for flashback scenes. It will hit theaters on April 23, 2021.
