Gal Gadot Confirms Joss Whedon Threatened Her Career

Over the last year, Ray Fisher has been leading the charge against Warner Bros. and Joss Whedon over claims of “abusive” behavior during reshoots on Justice League in 2017. But while most of the ongoing drama has put Fisher in the spotlight, the Cyborg actor isn’t the only one who clashed with Whedon after he replaced Zack Snyder in the director’s chair. Gal Gadot previously discussed having her own bad experience on the DC team-up film after Whedon took over. Now, she’s backing up earlier claims about what happened on the set.

Shortly before Wonder Woman 1984 premiered last December, Gadot told the L.A. Times that she had similarly unpleasant interactions with Whedon, which she immediately addressed with the top studio brass at Warner Bros. while Justice League was still in production. Gadot also revealed that she gave testimony about these experiences for WarnerMedia’s investigation into the director’s conduct. And in a recent sit-down with Israeli news station N12 (via The Wrap), Gadot claimed that Whedon tried to cow her into submission by taking aim at her acting career.

“I had my issues with Joss and I handled it,” said Gadot. “He threatened my career and said that if I do something he will make sure my career is miserable and I took care of it on the spot.”

Gadot’s remarks line up with claims made in an exposé published by The Hollywood Reporter last month. According to sources, Gadot expressed concern with how Whedon treated her character in his re-worked version of Justice League. She specifically felt that Diana was “more aggressive” than she appeared in Wonder Woman, which also hit theaters in 2017. The report also indicates that Whedon “disparaged” the work of Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins. But when Gadot approached Whedon about this, he got “dismissive” and “pushed Gadot to record lines she didn’t like.” Jenkins and Gadot ultimately handled the situation in a meeting with then-Warner Bros. chairman Kevin Tsujihara.

Not surprisingly, Fisher already posted his own response to Gadot’s statement on Twitter, which you can read below.
