Tom Holland Teases the End of a Trilogy in Spider-Man: No Way Home

Everything that has a beginning must end, sooner or later, and the same goes for the new Spider-Man live-action run. It appears that the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home will be the last installment in the current storyline. At least, that’s what the British actor is teasing in his recent interviews. Holland took over the character in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War before leading in the Peter Parker-solo movie, Homecoming. He then reprised the role in the Far From Home (also appearing in Infinity War and Endgame).

“We were all treating [No Way Home] as the end of a franchise, let’s say,” he said while talking with EW. “I think if we were lucky enough to dive into these characters again, you’d be seeing a very different version. It would no longer be the Homecoming trilogy. We would give it some time and try to build something different and tonally change the films. Whether that happens or not, I don’t know. But we were definitely treating [No Way Home] like it was coming to an end, and it felt like it.”

In No Way Home, Holland will work side-by-side with Alfred Molina, an alum of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. The 25-year old praised his fellow actor’s work on set, highlighting how much he felt at ease with CGI.

“It was really fun to watch him see how technology has advanced,” he added. “When he was making these films, the arms were puppets, and when we did it, they’re all imaginary and CG. It was quite cool to see him relive it, but also relearn it.”

Spider-Man: No Way Home debuts in theaters on December 17.
