The Batman DC FanDome Trailer Delivers a Better Look at Gotham City
Last year at DC FanDome, director Matt Reeves managed to put together a compelling trailer for The Batman even though the film was still in production. This year, he came back swinging with a lot more footage at his disposal. Most fans expected The Batman trailer to be the highlight of DC’s virtual fan convention, and on that score, it did not disappoint. With new looks at the composite fictional cityscape of Gotham, the Batsuit in action, a gorgeous Selina Kyle and the more serial killer-ish Riddler getting captured (but not beaten), The Batman trailer welcomes us to a new era.

In the panel beforehand, Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson discussed their concept of Bruce Wayne as a rock star in his cave. This version of Batman also looks like it finally acknowledges he puts black makeup around his eyes. Selina doesn’t wear the cat-cowl yet, but otherwise her costume looks right on. And Colin Farrell’s Robert De Niro-like voice as the Penguin sounds hilarious.
As for Gotham, it sure is dark and wet. As it should be.
