DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn has shut down a number of rumors involving the casting of Pa Kent and whether or not Margot Robbie is leaving the DC Universe.
What did James Gunn say about the Margot Robbie DCU rumors?
After Twitter user @DCULeaks claimed that Robbie will not be playing Harley Quinn in the DCU going forward due to the actress joining the MCU, Gunn responded to the account with a lengthy rebuttal. In his reply, the director stated that the account constantly lies and makes both “stupid made up stuff” and hurtful lies.
When DCULeaks responded asking if some of their lies were okay, Gunn clarified that no lying is okay and that he was simply pointing out the difference between “stupid lies and potentially harmful ones.”
Finally, the filmmaker was asked if there was any truth to DCULeaks’ claims that Thomas Haden Church, who played Sandman in Spider-Man 3 and Spider-Man: No Way Home, was cast as Superman’s adoptive father, Pa Kent, in Superman: Legacy. Gunn once more reiterated that all posts from that account are untrue, but that he loves Thomas Haden Church and that the actor played his older brother in the movie The Specials.
“Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas,” reads the movie’s official synopsis. “He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
Superman: Legacy is set to premiere in theaters on July 11, 2025.
