The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White on Meeting With Marvel: ‘I Think I Played It All Wrong’

The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White met with Marvel for a potential project; however, the meeting didn’t go very well, according to White.

Speaking with GQ, White recalled having “an attitude” when meeting with Marvel about potentially joining an unspecified MCU project.

“I had a meeting for a kind of Marvel-y movie, and I had an attitude,” he said. “I think I played it all wrong.” White said he told the executives, “Tell me about why should I do your movie,” which was not received well. “They were like, ‘F—k you,’” he continued. “And I was like, ‘Right on.’”

White, however, continued to say he didn’t lose much sleep over the meeting, as he’s perfectly content with making “$25 million drama that I think most actors want to make.” He added, “I’m just buying myself more time and being able to do what I really love to do. And that’s very much how I view these things.”

Jeremy Allen White’s next movie arrives in December

White’s next movie, The Iron Claw, hits United States theaters on December 22, 2023. Directed and written by Sean Durkin, the A24 movie tells the story of professional wrestling’s Von Erich brothers. The film also stars Zac Efron, Harris Dickinson, Holt McCallany, and Maura Tierney.

“The true story of the inseparable Von Erich brothers, who made history in the intensely competitive world of professional wrestling in the early 1980s,” the official synopsis reads. “Through tragedy and triumph, under the shadow of their domineering father and coach, the brothers seek larger-than-life immortality on the biggest stage in sports.”

The Bear, meanwhile, was recently picked up for a third season by FX. Co-starring Aye Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Abby Elliott, and Matty Matheson, The Bear Season 3 is expected to debut sometime in 2024.
