Sony Pictures has released a new Madame Web video for the upcoming superhero movie based on the Spider-Man character. The film is set to debut in theaters on February 14, 2024.
In the video, the film’s star — Dakota Johnson — discusses the story and appeal of her character, Cassandra Webb. The film’s director, S.J. Clarkson, the speaks about what she found exciting and unique about the character.
“In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines,” an official synopsis reads. “The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures … if they can all survive a deadly present.”

What other movies are in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe?
Madame Web is the next big-screen entry in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU). The shared universe of licensed Marvel films kicked off in 2018 with the Tom Hardy-led Venom. It continued with the release of Venom: Let There Be Carnage in 2021 and Morbius in 2022. Following Madame Web, the Aaron Taylor-Johnson-starring Kraven the Hunter is due to hit theaters in August 2024. The currently-untitled Venom 3 will then arrive in November 2024.
