Zack Snyder has revealed the one line of original dialogue he wrote that made it into Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman.
Speaking with Wired, Snyder opened up about a scene he contributed to in DC Studios and Jenkins’ Wonder Woman, which was released in June 2017.
“Actually, there’s one line in the Wonder Woman movie that I originally wrote,” Snyder said. “When they’re on the boat and talking about, like, the treatises on sexual pleasure, she says [to Steve Trevor], ‘You wouldn’t like it because it concludes that men, though important for reproduction, are not necessary for pleasure.’ That was my contribution.”
Snyder is credited as a producer on Wonder Woman. He also co-wrote the story with Allan Heinberg and Jason Fuchs, while the screenplay was written solely by Heinberg.
Wonder Woman, which stars Gal Gadot as the titular superhero, made almost $823 million at the worldwide box office off of a budget of $149 million. It spawned a sequel, 2020’s Wonder Woman 1984, while Gadot’s character was also featured in 2017’s Justice League and 2021’s Zack Snyder’s Justice League. She additionally cameoed in 2023’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods and 2023’s The Flash.

Snyder, meanwhile, is now readying for the release of his new space opera, Rebel Moon. Starring Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Anthony Hopkins, Ed Skrein, and more, Rebel Moon — also known as Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire — is getting a limited theatrical release on December 15, 2023, before it then hits Netflix on December 22, 2023.
A sequel, Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver, is planned and currently scheduled to follow A Child of Fire on April 19, 2024.
“The movie is not a naive fantasy,” Snyder said of Rebel Moon. “[Kora, the character played by Boutella] is a soldier. The trauma of being a soldier is a big part of who she is, and the trauma is really a lot of what shapes her. She’s a powerful female character, but she does have a lot of flaws. In this case, she’s got a lot to discover about herself. She’s powerful, she’s savvy in the universe. But emotionally, that’s where she needs to grow.”
