Update: James Gunn has taken to Threads to deny that Pom Klementieff will appear in Superman: Legacy. “Despite Pom being one of my favorite actors to work with, this is 100% not true. Not only is Pom not in the movie, but no one has ever even discussed her being in the movie, nor do I have any idea what role she would possibly play,” he wrote.
In a separate post, Gunn also denied that Miriam Shor had been cast in the movie. “I’d like to find a place for Miriam in the DCU, maybe even in Legacy, but she isn’t presently cast in anything,” he wrote.

Writer-director James Gunn‘s inaugural DC Universe movie Superman: Legacy has found two new cast members in .
As broken by The Hollywood Reporter, Klementieff and Shor have boarded DC Studios‘ upcoming Superman reboot in undisclosed roles. Klementieff, a frequent collaborator of Gunn’s, previously portrayed Mantis in the director’s Guardians of the Galaxy series of Marvel Cinematic Universe films. She also made a brief cameo as a dancer in Gunn’s 2021 DC Extended Universe film The Suicide Squad. Shor has previously worked with Gunn as well, having portrayed Recorder Vim in this year’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Klementieff and Shor join a stacked cast that already includes David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner (Green Lantern), Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Sean Gunn has been cast as the DCU‘s Maxwell Lord, though it’s unclear if he will physically appear in Superman: Legacy.
Superman: Legacy marks a fresh start for DC
The DCEU will conclude with the release of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom this month. Gunn and DC Studios co-chair Peter Safran‘s new DCU will then kick off with the release of the Max animated series Creature Commandos next year. Gunn’s Superman: Legacy will be the first live-action feature film in the rebooted cinematic universe.
According to an official synopsis, the film follows Superman as he “reconciles his heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way in a world that views kindness as old-fashioned.”
Superman: Legacy opens in theaters on July 11, 2025.
