Fox‘s X-Men star James Marsden just slipped a big tease about possibly returning as Scott Summers/Cyclops for a cameo in Marvel Studios‘ Deadpool & Wolverine.
Marsden spoke to The Discourse podcast to promote his new movie Knox Goes Away and the conversation turned to the actor wrapping work in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3. While mentioning the threequel, Marsden let it slip about another big threequel filming not too far from the Sonic set in London.
“We were actually near the . . . Deadpool [production] stages up there in Pinewood,” Marsden said. “Yeah, this is a little . . . bit of a Pandora’s box.”
During the same interview, Marsden addressed the rumors about numerous past X-Men actors rejoining Hugh Jackman in the multiverse-centric Deadpool story and the MCU fans who bring it up to him. “Yeah, I keep hearing about it; I can’t walk down the street without someone asking me, so evidently, there’s a lot of chatter about that.”
Rumored and confirmed cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine
Since production began on Deadpool & Wolverine, leaked set photos confirmed the crossover between the universes of Fox’s X-Men franchise and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The cameos confirmed include Aaron Stanford’s Pyro as well as the returns of Sabertooth and Toad from 2000’s X-Men. Though director Shawn Levy remains tight-lipped about who’s going to appear, he revealed that securing the cameos was a very simple task.
“What blew my mind is how easy some of those cameos have been,” Levy said. “People love Deadpool. People love Ryan [Reynolds]. Thankfully, people also seem to like my work. They know that Ryan and I are in a groove of creative brotherhood that is unique and seems to be working.”
Deadpool & Wolverine hits cinemas on July 26.
