David Corenswet’s Stunt Double Praises DCU Superman, Reveals When Production Wraps

Justin Howell, the stunt double for Superman actor David Corenswet, recently revealed when the highly-anticipated DC Universe movie is expected to wrap production.

In an interview with Be More Super (via Twitter), Howell shared that the first feature installment in James Gunn‘s DCU — which has been in production since February 29, 2024 — will film until the “end of July, I think we finish.”

Justin Howell has had a blast working with David Corenswet

Superman marks the latest superhero blockbuster that Howell has been part of following his role as a stunt double for Chris Hemsworth in Thor: Love and Thunder. He was also part of the stunt team for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, as well as the Arrowverse series Arrow, Supergirl, Batwoman, and Legends of Tomorrow.

With Howell serving as the stunt double for Corenswet, who portrays the title superhero, he has worked closely with the actor and has come away with nothing but positive memories. He shared that Corenswet is “so down to earth and just a sweet guy,” adding that the actor “embodies the character so well.”

Corenswet was cast as Clark Kent/Kal-El/Superman in June 2023. In addition to Gunn’s Superman reboot, the actor is expected to portray the Man of Steel across all DCU projects, including animation and gaming. Joining Corenswet as co-lead in Superman is Rachel Brosnahan as Daily Planet journalist Lois Lane.

The rest of the ensemble cast for Superman includes Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, and Neva Howell as Martha Kent.

Written and directed by Gunn, Superman is scheduled to open in theaters on July 11, 2025.
