What do we know about Joker: Folie á Deux?

“Joker: Folie À Deux finds Arthur Fleck institutionalized at Arkham awaiting trial for his crimes as Joker,” the synopsis for the movie reads. “While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur not only stumbles upon true love, but also finds the music that’s always been inside him.”

In addition to Phoenix and Gaga, the film stars Catherine Keener, Zazie Beetz (who starred in the original movie), Harry Lawtey, Steve Coogan, Leigh Gill, Brendan Gleeson, Jacob Lofland, and Ken Leung.

Todd Phillips returns to direct the new Joker movie after he previously helmed the 2019 film. Prior to that, Phillips made 2003’s Old School, 2004’s Starsky & Hutch, 2009’s The Hangover, 2010’s Due Date, 2011’s The Hangover Part II, 2013’s The Hangover Part III, and 2016’s War Dogs.

Phillips co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Silver. He also produces the movie alongside Emma Tillinger Koskoff and Joseph Garner, while Michael E. Uslan, Georgia Kacandes, Silver, Mark Friedberg, and Jason Ruder serve as executive producers.

It has been confirmed that the sequel to Joker (which was originally intended to be a standalone movie) will have musical elements. Gaga served as the music consultant on the movie.

Joker: Folie á Deux will be released in United States theaters on October 4, 2024, from Warner Bros. Pictures. The first Joker movie, meanwhile, is currently streaming on Max.
