What should DC fans expect in Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story?

“The story of Christopher Reeve is an astonishing rise from unknown actor to iconic movie star, and his definitive portrayal of Clark Kent/Superman set the benchmark for the superhero cinematic universes that dominate cinema today,” reads the official synopsis for the documentary. “Reeve portrayed the Man of Steel in four Superman films and played dozens of other roles that displayed his talent and range as an actor, before being injured in a near-fatal horse-riding accident in 1995 that left him paralyzed from the neck down.”

The synopsis continues, “After becoming a quadriplegic, he became a charismatic leader and activist in the quest to find a cure for spinal cord injuries, as well as a passionate advocate for disability rights and care – all while continuing his career in cinema in front of and behind the camera and dedicating himself to his beloved family.”

While Clark Kent/Superman remains his most well-known role, Reeve headlined several other memorable movies, such as Somewhere in Time (1980), Deathtrap (1982), Street Smart (1987), and Switching Channels (1988). He also made guest appearances on multiple popular television series, such as The Muppet Show, Tales from the Crypt, Frasier, Sesame Street, and Smallville, the latter of which saw him acting opposite Tom Welling younger iteration of the Man of Steel. It also marked his final acting role as he passed a few months after the episode was released on October 10, 2004.

Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story will be released in limited theaters on September 21 and 25, 2024. Tickets are now available for purchase on FathomEvents.com.
