NBC Orders Pilot for DC Entertainment’s Powerless

Powerless gets a pilot order from NBC

NBC has officially ordered a pilot for the half-hour comedy series Powerless from “A to Z” creator Ben Queen and Warner Bros. TV. The pilot will be written and executive produced by Queen.

While not based on any particular comic from the DC canon, the series is described as “a workplace comedy set at one of the worst insurance companies in America” and is at its core is about “the reality of working life for a normal, powerless person in a world of superheroes and villains.”

It was previously reported that none of the A-List superheroes of the DCU like Batman, Superman, or Wonder Woman are expected to appear in the series, though with the main character in the show being in insurance, it’s almost a given they’ll be hearing about destruction in Metropolis or Gotham City every other episode.

“Powerless” joins the ever-expanding roster of DC Entertainemnt TV shows, which are currently all one-hour dramas with Arrow, The Flash, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow on The CW, Gotham on FOX, Supergirl on CBS, and the in-development Krypton on Syfy.

Marvel Entertainment also has a similar concept in development with Damage Control, though it remains unconfirmed at this time if that project is moving forward.
